Precision Powder Mixing & Blending for Brewing and Beverage Production
Fristam’s Mixing & Blending specialists design hygienic powder mixing systems for the real-world demands of breweries and beverage producers: flavor accuracy, microbiological safety, repeatable quality, and smooth, predictable production.
Our stainless-steel powder induction and inline mixing technologies enable fast, lump-free incorporation of powders into liquids for applications including wort preparation, brewing sugar addition, hop dosing, flavor blending, mineral and salt adjustment, and ready-to-drink beverage formulation. The result is reliable dispersion, shorter mixing times, less rework, and clean integration into modern process lines.
From brewing sugars and mineral salts to hop products, fruit powders, stabilizers, botanicals and functional ingredients, Fristam mixing systems are engineered to wet and disperse powders quickly and hygienically — supporting consistent flavor, color, mouthfeel and batch-to-batch repeatability.

Why Breweries and Beverage Manufacturers Choose Fristam Mixing Technology:
Brewing and beverage production demands far more than simply "mixing". Every ingredient addition can influence flavor stability, fermentation performance, clarity, shelf life and regulatory compliance. Fristam mixing systems are designed to give process teams control over these variables — from raw material intake through to finished beverage.
What sets Fristam mixing apart in brewing and beverage applications:
Controlled Ingredient Incorporation: Powders are inducted directly into the liquid stream under vacuum and high shear, ensuring fast wetting and consistent dispersion — particularly important for hop products, brewing sugars, salts, enzymes and stabilizers.
Predictable Recipe Performance: Homogeneous mixing prevents concentration pockets that can affect fermentation, carbonation, sweetness, bitterness and mouthfeel, helping recipes perform the same way every time.
Designed for Brewery Hygiene Regimes: Smooth, stainless-steel product zones and CIP-ready construction support validated cleaning procedures and help reduce the risk of microbiological contamination between batches and flavor changeovers.
Reduced Losses and Rework: Efficient powder utilization means less material left floating, clumping or sticking to tank walls — improving yield and reducing costly off-spec batches.
Safe, Closed Powder Handling: Enclosed powder induction improves operator safety, limits dust and supports compliance with health & safety and ATEX-related process areas where required.
Built for Integration into Brewing and Beverage Plants: Inline and recirculation configurations allow Fristam mixers to be installed into brewhouses, syrup rooms, blending skids and beverage process lines without disrupting existing layouts.

How the Fristam Powder Mixer Achieves Rapid, Lump-Free Powder Induction and Blending
This video explains how the Fristam hygienic powder mixer inducts powder into a liquid stream. Powders are poured into the hopper at waist height and a liquid ring pump pulls liquid into the system, followed by high-shear inline mixing of wet and dry ingredients in the FS Shear Blender. The process delivers rapid dispersion, lump-free blending and reliable food and pharmaceutical grade powder handling within a compact, CIP-capable system.
Fristam’s powder mixer provides rapid blending and dispersion of wet and dry ingredients into a flowing liquid stream by combining the FZX liquid-ring pump with the FS shear blender in a single compact unit.
Liquid is drawn into the mixer and throttling at the suction side creates vacuum beneath the hopper, pulling powder directly into the flow to form a premix. The FS shear blender then removes remaining agglomerates, producing a smooth, homogeneous solution.
Rapid Dry Hop Pellet Induction with the Fristam Powder Mixer
This video shows hygienic induction of 20 kg (44 lb) of dry hop pellets into liquid using the Fristam powder mixer. Complete wetting and dispersion occur within 45 seconds, supporting efficient brewing and flavor extraction.
Efficient hop incorporation is essential for modern brewing processes. Vacuum-assisted induction and gentle yet thorough mixing enable rapid wetting of hop pellets while supporting consistent dispersion, reduced oxygen exposure and repeatable flavor development in beer production.

These are depictions of our standard powder mixers, blenders and colloid mills. However, around 70% of the mixers we deliver are adapted — in both small and substantial ways — to suit specific process conditions, plant standards and engineering requirements.
Fristam Mixing & Blending FAQ for the Beverage Industry
Fristam Powder Mixers, Shear Blenders and Colloid Mills are engineered for hygienic beverage processing. Smooth, crevice-free product-contact surfaces and food-grade stainless steel prevent microbial growth and support reliable cleaning in brewing and beverage environments.
Yes. Fristam mixing systems are available with hygienic design, food-grade materials, 3-A certification options and ISO 9001 manufacturing. This supports compliance with brewery hygiene, beverage safety and quality management systems.
Yes. Fristam mixers are fully CIP- and SIP-capable and designed to be cleaned without dismantling. This enables validated cleaning between brews, flavor changes and seasonal recipes.
Closed induction of hops pellets and enclosed mixing reduce dust, vapor and CO₂ exposure. Fristam systems help control gas release, protect operators and preserve hop aroma.
Fristam mixers are used for malt extracts, brewing sugars, dextrose, mineral salts, hop pellets and extracts, fruit powders, botanical ingredients, flavor systems, stabilizers and enzyme preparations.
Hop products are drawn into a controlled liquid stream, ensuring rapid wetting and dispersion without floating or clumping. This improves the release of hop oils and aroma compounds into wort, beer or beverage bases.
Yes. Mixing intensity can be controlled to protect yeast nutrients, enzymes and volatile hop aromas while still achieving full dispersion.
Yes. High-shear Fristam mixers can process syrups, fruit concentrates and high-extract formulations commonly used in flavored and speciality beverages.
Inline powder induction delivers uniform wetting and dispersion, producing consistent flavor, sweetness, mouthfeel and color from batch to batch.
Yes. By eliminating undissolved solids, floating powders and concentration gradients, Fristam mixers reduce quality deviations and help prevent reprocessing.
Yes. Fristam mixing systems can be configured for batch dosing, continuous inline blending or recirculation, depending on brewery layout and production style.
Yes. Fristam mixers integrate into wort preparation, adjunct dosing, blending lines, flavor addition systems and transfer pipelines with minimal modification.
Once installed, Fristam systems operate with minimal manual input. Automated powder induction supports consistent results across shifts and recipes.
Fristam mixers can be integrated with enclosed hop dosing units, allowing hop pellets and extracts to be added safely while limiting oxygen pick-up and aroma loss.
Inline powder induction delivers faster dissolution, better homogeneity and safer ingredient handling than manual addition into open tanks.
Yes. Efficient powder induction and enclosed transfer significantly reduce losses during dosing, helping maximise the use of valuable hops, speciality sugars, enzymes and flavorings.
Shorter mixing times, reduced rework, lower cleaning effort and long service life contribute to lower operating costs in breweries and beverage plants.
